Our Programmes
Beginner / Improver level
Aquapak 1 & 2 is a world wide water smart programme of The Royal Life Saving Society. It is a series of learning programmes to help you make the most of your swimming, survival & lifesaving. It consists of 10 awards which are level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Water Safety & Basic Resuscitation.
Program fees: Member @ $170.00 quarterly, Non-member @ $190.00 quarterly
Duration per lesson: 60 minutes
Frequency: Once a week
Summary of learning for each level
Level 1
- Tuck jump into deep water
- Grasp a buoyant aid and float
- Swim back without aid
Level 2
- 'Starfish roll'
- Breaststroke swim 20m
- Tread water 30secs
Level 3
- Breaststroke swim 50m
- Tread water 1 min
Level 4
- Survival backstroke swim 50m + Breaststroke swim 50m
Tread water 2 mins
Level 5
- Frontcrawl swim 50m + Survival backstroke swim 50m + Breaststroke swim 50m
- Tread water 3mins
Level 6
- Backstroke swim 50m + Frontcrawl swim 50m + Survival backstroke swim 50m + Breaststroke swim 50m
- Tread water using egg-beater kick with sculling for 4mins
Level 7
- Sidestroke swim 50m + Backstroke swim 50m + Frontcrawl swim 50m + Survival backstroke swim 50m + Breaststroke swim 50m
- Tread water using egg-beater kick with sculling for 5mins
Level 8 - Graduation
- Theory test on water safety and personal water skills techniques
- Swim 50m with clothing and make 'float'
- 6 water entries
- 2 surface dives
- Underwater swim
- PFD skills
- HELP and huddle position
- Reach,throw rescue and clothing tow
- Basic resuscitation
Basic Resuscitation Award (CPR)
- Checking for dangers (Fire, Wire, Gas and Glass / Remove victim away from danger and vice versa)
- Checking for response (Tapping)
- Calling for help (995, ambulance and last to hang up)
- Checking of airway (Head tilt chin lift / body posture & positioning / finger sweep / stop)
- Checking of breathing (Look, Listen, Feel / 2 initial rescue breathes / rescuer's body posture and positioning)
- Checking of signs of life (CCMB / 1 cycle of CPR)
- Recovery position (Chest, stomach, head tilt and mouth facing down)
- Mouth to mouth resuscitation
- Mouth to nose resuscitation

Intermediate level
Program fees: Member @ $170.00 quarterly, Non-member @ $190.00 quarterly

Summary of learning for each level
Bronze Award
- Straddle / Tuck jump from poolside
- Swim 50m Drown proof for 1 minute
- Tread water for 3 minutes
- Undress attire in water and make float
- Swim 400m in any strokes, with one surface dive and swimming at least 5m submerged
- Climb out form deep end without assistance/steps
Silver Award
- Straddle / Tuck jump from poolside
- Swim 100m in less than 4 minutes
- Drown proof for 1 minute
- Tread water for 1 minute with 1 arm, the other arm at back of body
- Undress attire in water and make float, and swim 25m using legs only
- Swim 800m using 3 strokes, with 2 surface dives and swimming at least 5m submerged
- Climb out from deep end without assistance/steps
Gold Award
- Contact Jump
- Straddle/tuck jump from deep end of pool
- Swim 100m in less than 3 minutes
- Drown proof 1 minute
- Tread water for 1 minute with one hand waving
- Tread water with both arms for 5 minutes
- Undress attire and make float, and swim 25m using legs only
- Deflate and inflate float and swim another 25m with float
using legs only
- Swim 1,000m using 3 strokes within 45 minutes, with 4
surface dives and swimming at least 5m submerged
- Climb out from deep end without assistance/steps

Specialized course - Life Saving Course
This is an aquatics lifesaving program.
Starting, the Lifesaving 1, 2 and 3 awards is learning of preliminary skills and knowledge and follow on is the Bronze Medallion award, which is a standard level of being a professional qualified lifesaver.
Merit of award, Distinction Award and Pool lifeguard are specialized and are higher awards. Patrol lifeguard, Bronze and silver cross is another programs designed for open water situations.
Life Saving 1, 2 and 3 Award
Course fee: To be confirmed
Duration per lesson: 120 minutes
Frequency: Once a week
Entry requirement: Age 9 & above, able to swim 200 meters in any 2 recognized stroke
Test fee: Included in the course fee
Certification: Life Saving 1, 2 and 3 Award from the Singapore Life Saving Society

Bronze Medallion Award
To establish a basic level of proficiency in knowledge, understanding and practical ability for aquatics rescue situations.
Course fee: Member at $240.00 per course, Non-member at $260.00 per course
Duration per lesson: 120 minutes
Frequency: Once a week
Entry requirement:
Age 14 & above, able to swim 400 meters continuously, comprising of a minimum 100 meters per stroke, in at least 3 recognized strokes. Correct and efficient techniques must be used & a Life Saving 3 award holder.
Test fee: Included in the course fee
Certification: Bronze Medallion Award from the Singapore Life Saving Society
